Cultural Heritage Festivals

Celebrating Community Together

Tookhar Festivals is dedicated to promoting arts and culture through inclusive festivals. We aim to engage communities in Ontario by celebrating diverse heritage events, fostering social cohesion, and supporting local artists.

About Tookhar Festivals

Tookhar Festivals was created with a simple idea:
to bring people together through celebration, culture, food, music, color, and joy — no matter where you come from or how old you are.
Starting 2026, Tookhar Festivals proudly begins its journey with Durga Puja, one of the most vibrant and beloved cultural festivals, and the first of many celebrations to come.

A Festival for Everyone

At Tookhar, we believe festivals are not just about tradition — they’re about connection.
That’s why our events are designed for:

children experiencing culture for the first time
youth looking for music, creativity, and energy
elders reconnecting with memories and traditions
friends and neighbours from all cultures and backgrounds

Whether you grew up celebrating Durga Puja or are discovering it for the very first time, you belong here.

Rooted in Culture, Open to All

While our roots lie in South Asian traditions, Tookhar Festivals is not limited to one community.
We celebrate:

cultural storytelling
art and creativity
live music and dance
delicious food from near and far
shared moments that turn strangers into friends

Our festivals are welcoming, playful, inclusive, and respectful, blending tradition with modern community spirit.

Why “Tookhar”?

In Bengali, Tookhar means adroit, artful, and skilfully expressed.
It speaks to the grace, creativity, and thoughtful craftsmanship behind every detail.
At Tookhar Festivals, the name reflects:
the artistry in cultural traditions,
the skill of performers and creators, and
the careful balance of honouring heritage while making space for everyone.

Across generations, cultures, and experiences, Tookhar represents celebration done with heart, intention, and skill.

Looking Ahead

2026 is just the beginning.
Durga Puja marks our first step, and we’re excited to grow into:
multiple cultural celebrations,
cross‑community collaborations,
spaces where everyone feels at home.

Our vision is to build festivals that are joyful, meaningful, and accessible, year after year.

Come celebrate with us.
Come dance, eat, laugh, learn, reconnect — and create new traditions together.
Tookhar Festivals — where culture meets community.
